Glass or display? How to tell
Look at the screen with the iPad on. If the image is perfect — sharp, no lines, no black patches, correct colours — and touch works normally everywhere, you have broken glass over a healthy display. That's the cheaper repair.
If you see black blotches, coloured lines, a bleeding stain, or dead touch zones, the display underneath is damaged too and both parts need replacing.
This distinction applies to older iPads and the standard iPad line, where glass and LCD are separate. On iPad Pro and newer Air models the assembly is bonded like an iPhone, so it's one part regardless.
What each costs
Glass-only on a standard iPad: the lower end of the range, often around ₹5,900. A full display assembly on an iPad Air runs about ₹9,900, and iPad Pro panels start around ₹15,900 because the laminated assembly is expensive to source.
If a shop quotes you a full assembly price without checking whether your display is actually damaged, ask them to check. We've sent plenty of people home paying half what they expected.
Why DIY iPad screen repair usually ends badly
iPad glass is large, thin and bonded with strong adhesive around the entire perimeter. Removing it needs controlled heat across the whole frame, the right picks, and patience — and the panel underneath cracks very easily under uneven pressure.
The common outcome of a kit from the internet is a second cracked panel and a repair that now costs more than the original quote. There's also the digitiser cable running along one edge, which is easy to sever on the way in.
And the reseal matters: iPads aren't waterproof, but a proper adhesive seal keeps dust out of the panel. A badly sealed screen lifts at the corners within weeks.
How long it takes
Same day to two days, depending on the model and whether the adhesive needs a full cure. We test touch across the entire surface, check for pressure marks and confirm the Home button or Touch ID still works before returning it.

iPads aren't rated waterproof to begin with. We reseal with fresh adhesive so it's as dust-resistant as it was before, but treat it as you would any tablet.
