Apple Watch Repair: Screens, Batteries & What Can Be Fixed

Apple's out-of-warranty service price for an Apple Watch frequently costs more than the watch is worth on the second-hand market, which is why so many people assume a cracked Watch is a dead Watch. It usually isn't.

Cracked screens

Watch screens crack from door frames and gym equipment more often than from drops. The glass and OLED are bonded, so it's a full front-assembly replacement — but the part is small and the job is quick.

Expect around ₹3,900 for Series 1–3, ₹5,900 for Series 4–6 and SE, ₹8,900 for Series 7–10, and from ₹16,900 for Ultra models, where the sapphire and titanium front costs considerably more.

One important note: if your screen is lifting at an edge rather than cracked, the cause is usually a swelling battery underneath. Deal with that quickly, before the display separates entirely and the flex cable tears.

Batteries

Watch cells are tiny and cycle every single day, so they age faster than a phone battery. Three to four years is typical before runtime noticeably drops. Replacement runs roughly ₹2,400 to ₹5,900 depending on series.

The symptom to watch for beyond short runtime is a screen that's started to lift or bulge — that's the battery swelling, and it's the point at which a cheap repair becomes an expensive one if you wait.

Water damage

Modern Watches are water resistant, but seals degrade with age and after previous repairs, and the ratings don't cover hot water or seawater over time. If moisture gets in, the same rules apply as for a phone: power it off, don't charge it, and bring it in fast.

Because the internal space is so tight, corrosion spreads quickly. Same-day action makes a real difference to the outcome.

The Digital Crown

Sweat, sunscreen and grit work their way under the crown and it stops scrolling smoothly or sticks. Often this is a cleaning and re-seating job rather than a replacement — worth a free diagnosis before assuming the worst.

What generally can't be fixed

Back sensor glass that has separated can be reattached, but the heart rate and blood oxygen sensors are calibrated to the device and don't always survive. Severe board damage on an older Series 1–3 is rarely economic to repair. We'll tell you when a repair costs more than the watch is worth — that happens, and pretending otherwise would waste your money.

Frequently asked

Is it worth repairing an Apple Watch?

For Series 4 and newer, usually yes — a screen or battery repair costs a fraction of a replacement watch. For Series 1–3 it depends on the fault; we'll tell you honestly when it isn't economic.

How much is an Apple Watch screen replacement?

Around ₹3,900 for Series 1–3, ₹5,900 for Series 4–6 and SE, ₹8,900 for Series 7–10, and from ₹16,900 for Ultra models.

Why is my Apple Watch screen lifting off?

Almost always a swelling battery underneath. Bring it in promptly — once the display separates fully the flex cable tears and the repair becomes much more expensive.

How long does Apple Watch repair take?

One to three days for most screen and battery work, depending on part availability for your series.
